Poem of the Week

Easter in Florida

A sandhill crane with two babies sits in the middle of a meridian
drawing a crowd from drivers passing by the farms.

Fish swim near the surface of the lake
heads bobbing up and down in perfect unison
to the beat of a classic song by Mozart
softly playing in the background.

Two ibises sway to a much smoother tune
Ambrosia, singing to each other
how being the biggest part of me
brings a sunrise in your eyes
giving me a joy
that lasts throughout the year
not just at Easter.
