Poem of the Week

My Prince Has Arrived

Slowly climbing the stairs to the red velvet covered throne
jewel encrusted fingers firmly placed on the right armrest
laying claim to rule over the vast territory you used to visit
before you arrived yesterday totally unexpectedly giving me
a false name then slipping a scroll of paper into my hands
ink made from buckthorn berries created the identity of who
you really were.

It must have been the purple cloak, tunic, and red hat that
made your physique so imposing, ready to conquer the most
coveted treasure in the world: my heart.
